Westmeath manager Damien Gavin is speaking of his pride after his players were beaten by a late goal in the final of the All Ireland B Football Championship on Saturday.
The Lake County led by one at the break, in a back and forth contest, only to see Down wrestle control of the game in the last ten minutes.
Dan Rafferty hit the decisive goal of the day in Navan, while Brían Cooney top scored for Westmeath with five points, four of which were from frees.
The final score was Down 1-10 Westmeath 0-10.
