Valiant Force delivered a lightening finish to place second in Santa Anita.
There was just half a length between Westmeath trainer Adrian Murray and a career best victory at the Breeder's Cup on Friday.
Valiant Force was held up at the back of the five furlong sprint and delivered to the line by William Buick late.
Big Evs, well fancied before the off, was ridden prominently, and just about held on from the ever quickening Valiant Force.
Murray's runner claimed just over £140,000 for placing second in the prestigious Grade One contest.

Murray's other runner at Santa Anita, Cuban Thunder, was well beaten in the Juvenile Mile on the dirt.
Fierceness landed the race for trainer Todd Pletcher and jockey John Velazquez.
