Ciarán Is Brewing Up A Storm

Forecasters in The Netherlands queried the pronunciation of the name.

Met Éireann says it would consider changing one of its storm names after forecasters in The Netherlands queried the pronunciation of Ciarán.

In discussions, Met Éireann said it was happy with 'Fergus' as its choice for an Irish name for this season.

The Irish Daily Star reports an email was sent to Dutch colleagues regarding Ciarán, it said "it's pronounced 'Keer' but if you think it's too complicated to pronounce, it wouldn't be a problem for us to change it".

Ciarán is due to be the third named storm of the season, after Agnes and Babet.
