Link Between 'Bad Cholesterol', Heart Attacks And Stroke Thrown Into Doubt

The study found that the overall benefit of taking Statins may be small.

A new study is showing the link between so-called 'bad cholesterol' and heart attacks and stroke, may not be as strong as previously thought. 

The research by the Royal College of Surgeons also questions the efficacy of Statins, which are widely prescribed to patients to bring down their cholesterol levels.  

The study found that the overall benefit of taking Statins may be small and will vary depending on an individuals personal risk factors, such as weight and smoking habits.
