Wet wipes, hotel toiletries and single sachets of sugar and sauce are among the items that could be banned under new environmental proposals.

The Oireachtas Climate Committee also wants packaged fruit and veg to be made more expensive than the loose alternatives, according to the Irish Independent.

A total of 62 recommendations are contained in its new report to limit package waste.

The measures have been presented to government which's expected to publish details of new laws early in the new year.
