The Minister for Special Education promised a month ago that places will be made available.
Nearly a dozen autistic children in the Athlone area are still left without a secondary school place for September.
It comes a month after the Minister for Special Education told local TD Denis Naughton that there would be sufficient capacity locally for the children in the autumn.
The Roscommon-Galway deputy says none of the families have received details on schooling mere weeks before their children leave primary education.
He says some of the children face travelling up to 100km a day to school if this is not resolved.
