Westmeath's Louise McCormack is on her way home after being held by Israel along with 14 other Irish people.

Foreign Affairs Minister Helen McEntee says the Irish members of the Global Sumud Flotilla are currently being held at a detention centre, but will be taken to the airport in Istanbul and deported.

It comes after widespread condemnation of Israeli Security Minister Ben Gvir, who posted a video of him taunting the detainees.

Minister McEntee says members of the Irish embassy are on the way to the airport in Turkey:

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says the way Ben Gvir dealt with the activists is "not in line with Israel's values and norms".

Former IDF intelligence major, Dan Feferman says the video was a publicity stunt aimed at a domestic audience:

Speaking in the Dáil this morning, Foreign Affairs Minister Helen McEntee says she's appalled by the video:

The United States is among western governments expressing outrage over Israel’s security minister, who posted a video of himself taunting Gaza-bound flotilla activists being pinned to the ?ground.

Two Italian activists allege they were physically assaulted while in detention.

The U.S. Ambassador to Israel, ?Mike Huckabee, said Ben-Gvir had betrayed the dignity of his nation.
