The call is being made by the local Domestic Abuse Service.
A domestic violence service is trying to secure a refuge facility for County Laois.
At the moment, the Laois Domestic Abuse Service provides a midweek day service, supplying information, accompaniment to court and counselling.
But it says victims of domestic violence need overnight accomodation to escape abusive situations in an emergency.
