Offaly is one of only two counties in Leinster where the average rent price remained under €1,000.
Average rents in Ireland increased 64% more than the EU average in the past 12 years.
Ireland saw increases of 82% since 2010, compared to the EU average of 18 percent in the same timeframe.
New figures from the Banking and Payments Federation of Ireland show Offaly is one of only two counties in Leinster where the average rent price is under €1,000.
House prices increased by nearly 50% across the EU, while average prices here went up by more than 55 percent.
Chief Executive of the Federation Brian Hayes says nothing will change unless supply increases substantially.
