A Laois Home Economics teacher says children need to be allowed to cook at home so they can learn the skills they need for life.
Julie Anne Behan from Killenard has co-written the new education book 'Now Your Cooking' - which will be added to the Junior Cycle curriculum.
The book contains everyday recipes from simple snacks to healthy dinners.
The Portlaoise College teacher is hopeful students will continue to use the book long after they finish school:
