Advocacy Group Adds Weight To Dog Fouling Clean Up Campaign

Figures released to NCBI show only two fines were issued for dog fouling in the midlands in 2020.

An advocacy group for the visually impaired is launching a campaign to tackle dog fouling and obstacles on Irish streets. 

Figures obtained by the National Council for the Blind show just two fines were handed out in the midlands for not picking up after your dog last year. 

Offaly County Council is one of twelve local authorities that didn't issue any sanctions in 2020, with one each distributed in Laois and Westmeath. 

The NCBI's Head of Advocacy, June Tinsley, says there's a serious lack of awareness among the wider public:
