Agri Minister Stands By Shannon Callows Scheme

Many affected farmers are yet to receive any compensation for losses caused by flooding.

The Agriculture Minister says farmers who are yet to be compensated for flooding along the Shannon Callows will be given the chance to make their case for funding.

Thousands of bales of silage and hay were lost due to heavy rainfall last summer, which led to a number of protests in Offaly from the Save Our Shannon Organisation.

A support scheme was put in place by the Government, which offered €325 per hectare, capped at €4,875 per farmer.

However, some are yet to receive the full funding, while others haven't been given any money.
