Government are being briefed today on the future of Irish UNIFIL troops in Lebanon.
Government ministers are getting an updated briefing today on the likely future of the UNIFIL mission in Lebanon.
Irish troops have been involved in the mission for over 40 years, with 340 troops currently in Camp Shamrock.
However because of uncertainty over funding from the US, the United Nations Security Council will have to make a decision on UNIFIL's future by the end of August.
Security and defence analyst and Mullingar's Declan Power says Israel has lobbied strongly against the mission continuing.
