Almost 1,400 Wait For Hearing Services Across Midlands

There's only one full time audiologist serving the region.

Sinn Féin is calling on the HSE to recruit two further audiologists to clear a significant backlog in the midlands. 

1,376 people are currently waiting to attend services in Laois and Offaly alone. 

At the moment, there's only one full-time audiologist covering Westmeath, Laois, Offaly and Longford. 

Laois/Offaly TD Brian Stanley acknowledges that there's been redeployment because of covid-19, but says the effect on children is particularly concerning:
