It's being provided under the Large Scale Sports Infrastructure Fund.
€8.9m is being allocated to the development of a swimming pool in Offaly.
The grant has been announced for Edenderry Swimming Pool, which was damaged by a fire earlier this year, under the Large Scale Sports Infrastructure Fund by the Department of Sport.
The project will bring the facility to competition standard, including a 25 metre short course pool, a hydrotherapy recovery area with hot and cool baths, and a strength and conditioning room.
A total of €173m in funding is being provided across 35 projects around the country.
Fianna Fáil councillor Claire Murray says the local community is thrilled at the news:
Meanwhile, €2m is being invested into a Westmeath sports facility.
The Mullingar Regional Sports Complex will see the funding put towards the design costs.
The highest amount will be given to the redevelopment of Dalymount Park, at more than €24m.
