A new swimming pool, a digital hub and more public and event spaces are ambitions for a Westmeath town's future development.
The Athlone Urban Design and Regeneration Framework Plan has been put together by planning teams in the town and presented to the local authority.
It includes 14 opportunity sites which have previously seen development and are currently underutilised.
Senior Planner at Westmeath County Council, Cathaldus Hartin, says this will act as a blueprint for the town:
