She was one of four to be honoured yesterday.

Anna May McHugh has been recognised for her outstanding contribution to Irish life.

The Managing Director of the National Ploughing Association has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Trinity College Dublin.

She was one of four ‘exceptional’ people to be honoured yesterday.

Ms. McHugh has been MD of the NPA for over 50 years, and has worked for the organisation for nearly 70.

The Public Orator Dr Anna Chahoud praised Anna May McHugh as “the worthy recipient of countless honours for her seventy years of services rendered to Irish agriculture and culture.”

“She has peacefully transformed Irish society by fostering its core values and helping recognise the invaluable work of women in a previously male-dominated world.”
