Money was handed into Mullingar Garda Station last September.
Westmeath Gardai are praising a man for donating cash he found to charity.
The man, who prefers to stay anonymous, turned it in to Mullingar Garda Station in September of last year after spotting it blowing in the wind when driving.
The undisclosed amount of cash was not claimed by its owner within 12 months, with Gardai then telling the man he could claim the money as his own.
When collecting it at the station, he said his plans were to donate the full amount to Guide Dogs for the Blind and Special Assistant dogs.
On their Facebook page, Gardai in Westmeath are thanking him for being an honest gentleman.
