Jennifer Murnane O'Connor says every garda station across the country will have a nominated drug issue specialist from now on.
It follows a firebomb attack that led to the death of four year old Tadgh Farrell and his grand-aunt Mary Holt in Edenderry in December.
It's believed the house was being targeted as part of a drug gang dispute, with Tadgh's father, 27 year old Aaron Holt of Castleview Park sentenced to seven years following a heroin seizure.
