Areas Of Laois Town Becoming Derelict Due To Absentee Home Owners

The owners are being called on to avail of public funding for refurbishment.

A midlands councilor is calling on absentee home-owners to avail of public funding to refurbish their properties. 

Fine Gael's John King says a number of buildings in Rathdowney have become derelict, which he says are largely owned by people who live outside the area.

He is appealing to them to utilise a streetscape fund of  €50,000, to carry out renovations and restore the town's image.
