Arrival Of Ukrainian Children Could Help Save Laois School

The school is in danger of closing because of low pupil numbers.

The waving of a magic wand isn't going to provide accommodation for Ukrainian refugees.

That's according to Laois Offaly TD Brian Stanley, who says practical steps must be taken to alleviate the crisis.

He's calling on the government to provide a teacher for a school in Rathdowney, which had faced fears of closing a classroom due to a lack of students, but has recently seen an influx of Ukrainian children.

The Sinn Féin deputy says those fleeing the war can't be loaded into big cities:
