The Students' Union at Athlone Institute of Technology is welcoming the decision to hold the general election on a Saturday.
Taoiseach Leo Varadkar yesterday announced the country will vote on the 8th of Februrary.
It means no day off for schools that are used as polling stations.
But Athlone IT SU President, Áine Daly, feels it's more convenient for students travelling home from college, who are eager to have their voices heard:
