Attacker Of Three Midlands Men Ordered To Surrender Passport

20 year old Mohammed Al Hassan of 99 Abbeylands, Mullingar, Westmeath is facing three separate counts of assault causing harm.

A man accused of attacking three men in a midlands town on the same night has been ordered to surrender his passport ahead of his anticipated trial later this year.

20 year old Mohammed Al Hassan of 99 Abbeylands, Mullingar, Westmeath is facing three separate counts of assault causing harm at Dominick Street in the town on June 29 last year.

The Irish Independent is reporting Mr Al Hassan is also charged with producing a "pointed" weapon "capable of inflicting serious injury" during the course of a fight.

The Director of Public Prosecution has issued directions that the accused would stand trial on indictment and included consent for Mr Al Hassan to go forward on a signed guilty plea.

There is, however, no indication at this stage of Al Hassan accepting the DPP’s plea offer.

Instead, his defence applied for a short adjournment to consider the State’s position.

Mullingar District Court reminded Mr Al Hassan of his bail conditions, namely to "stay away" from his three alleged victims, to surrender his passport while also remaining answerable to gardaí at all times.

He is remanded on bail to a sitting on July 9th for the serving of a book of evidence and consideration of a signed plea.
