Officers were called to the scene of the alleged incident in Portarlington at around 1am in the early hours of this morning.
However, Gardaí say there was nobody at the scene upon their arrival.
They're appealing for witnesses to the incident, particularly those with camera or dashcam footage, to make it available to investigating officers.
