The Laois councillor is calling for a system to automatically register people to vote once they turn 18.
Automatically registering people to vote once they turn 18 would eliminate a lot of obstacles for people to have their say.
That's the view of Laois councillor Tommy Mulligan, who is calling for a new system to be put in place to auto enroll people on the electoral register.
Laois County Council will be sending a letter to relevant Government Departments to further the issue.
