The only benefit to the Tara Mines collapse is better financial supports for workers.
That's according to Adrian Kane, Energy Divisional Organiser with SIPTU.
Tara Mines reopens today after 18 months - with 600 workers having lost their jobs temporarily and 200 of those workers taking a voluntary redundancy package.
A higher rate of Pay-related Jobseekers Benefit will be provided to mine workers in future when taking such offers.
