A Westmeath boat club is receiving 400 thousand euro to go towards its new headquarters.
With facilities that are no longer able to cater for its 140 members, Athlone Boat Club is set to get a new building on the banks of the Shannon.
Plans for the state-of-art clubhouse include indoor rowing facilities, dressing rooms and boat storage space.
The project involves demolition of the existing building, and flood defence and ground works.
The funding is being awarded by Leader and, having received full planning permission, building work is set to get underway in the new year.
