Budget 2023 is a 'step in the right direction', according Mullingar Chamber of Commerce.
Its president, John Geoghegan, believes a number of measures indicate the government is serious about supporting midlands businesses through the cost of living crisis.
A policy coming in for particular praise from the chamber is the decision to double the voucher tax relief scheme for employees to a thousand euro, which is expected to be of major benefit to Mullingar retailers.
Mr. Geoghegan says it's hard to know what to provide-for going forward but thinks yesterday's announcement will make a difference:
