Calls For Council To Shoulder Costs Of Running Community CCTV In Laois

Currently, volunteers are floating the expenses.

Recommendations are being made for Laois County Council to cover the expenses of running community CCTV schemes. 

Councillor Ollie Clooney is making the call, and says many cameras in the county are running from individual power sources, with volunteer groups floating the expenses. 

He says a recommendation to seek funding from the Department of Justice for these costs is hindered by data protection regulations.
