Calls For Garda Investigation After Recovery Of Dead Horse In Westmeath

The carcass had been in the Garrycastle area of Athlone for five days.

A Westmeath councillor is calling for an investigation into a dead horse that had been left on a roadside.


The carcass had been lying near a footpath on Bushfield Road in the Garrycastle area of Athlone for several days, before it was removed late last week.


Fianna Fáil Councillor Frankie Keena says the issue was reported on December 27th and was raised with the council and gardaí.


Westmeath County Council arranged for its removal on Friday, January 2nd, following public concern.
