Works are underway in Westmeath to carry out speed limit reductions in the coming months.
Under plans announced by the State last year, speed limits on national secondary roads will reduce from 100kph to 80kph, with rural and local roads going from 80kph to 60kph.
During a meeting of Westmeath County Council this week, members made calls to see 30kph restrictions put in place in all school areas.
