A campaign is underway to build a new sports complex in Laois.
Sinn Féin councillor Caronline Dwane Stanley is suggesting building a large-scale arena, for a variety of sports clubs to avail of.
It comes as Portlaoise Panthers basketball club looks for a permanent home, as they're currently spending €45,000 a year renting facilities.
Councillor Dwane Stanley says she has received a commitment from the local authority to engage with other stakeholders, like the ETB and Sports Ireland, to see if the idea could be developed.
She suggests it could be built near the Stradbally Road in Portlaoise:
