Close to 900 children and young people in the Midlands are on waiting lists for primary care psychology support.
Nationally, over 29 thousand children and young people were waiting at the end of January 2026, including over 16 thousand who had been waiting a year or more.
Sinn Féin TD for Longford-Westmeath, Sorca Clarke is seeking the expansion of primary care psychology teams, resolve recruitment and retention problems, and adequate resources being provided to ensure children receive timely care.
She says the government need to act in order to bring these figures down:
