22 year old Evan Fitzgerald was the sole fatality from Sunday evening's incident.
Gardaí are continuing to investigate the shooting and death of a 22 year old man at Fairgreen Shopping Centre, in Carlow.
He's been named as Evan Fitzgerald, and his body has been taken to the mortuary in Dublin where a post-mortem examination is being carried out by the State Pathologist today.
A technical examination of the car park has concluded and cars are being returned to their owners - although the shopping centre remains closed.
Superintendent Anthony Farrell from Carlow Garda Station says their thoughts are with the victim's family, and the community which is both directly and indirectly affected.
It's emerged Mr Fitzgerald was arrested last year along with two others and appeared in court facing charges of possessing firearms and explosive materials.
Conor Lally, security and Crime Editor of the Irish Times says Fitzgerald was due to stand trial soon:
The mayor of Carlow says people facing gun charges should not be on bail.
