It's currently earmarked for Mullingar.
A case is being made to move a proposed EV Centre of Excellence from a major midlands town, to a more rural area.
Minister for Higher Education Simon Harris announced earlier this week the new National Training Centre for Electric Vehicle Technicians will be based in Mullingar.
However, the Castlepollard Local Development Group argues its town is an ideal location for the centre.
