The CSO says it's learned a good deal more in this Census by changing the wording of their questions.
Over 1m people across Ireland have reported experiencing at least one disability.
The Census 2022 shows that 22.6% of people in Offaly are living with with a long lasting condition or difficulty.
That figure is 21.9% in Laois and 21.5% in Westmeath.
CSO figures also show that Offaly had the highest rate of people under the age of 15 living with such conditions, at 11%.
Meanwhile, just over 50% of respondents in each midlands county reported being in good health.
