The closure of the district court office in Athlone is being met with concern by local gardaí.
The public office - located close to Athlone Garda Station on Pearse Street - is due to close in the coming months, with staff in the Mullingar taking over the administrative work.
The Courts Service says it's down to a high staff turnover in the last three years and, therefore, challenges regarding the levels of experience in the Athlone office.
While court sittings will be unaffected by the move, Sergeant Andrew Harron has concerns about the impact of the proposals on family law matters.
He says having a local court office is important, especially for dealing with cases of domestic violence:
