36 people could be housed in a local property.
A small midlands town does not have the required resources to support the arrival of 36 International Protection Applicants.
That's the perspective of Laois councillor James Kelly, after it emerged a Mountrath property has been identified to house 36 people fleeing war.
Beyond the size of the town, there are doubts about the appropriateness of the building being proposed.
Councillors are also frustrated about how the move has been communicated.
Independent rep James Kelly does not believe Mountrath is the right place for Asylum Seekers:
Any nationality or race will be welcome in a midlands community.
That's according to the Mountrath Development Association.
