There were doubts over the whether the annual trip would go ahead this year.
Laois County Council's annual St. Patrick's Day trip to New York is going ahead, after a replacement was found for the cathaoirleach.
Councillor Wille Aird had previously stated he's too busy to travel during the calving season, with doubt lingering as to whether the visit would take place.
He's now nominated his Fine Gael colleague, Conor Bergin, to deputise, after an invitation was again extended by the Laois Association in New York.
Councillor Bergin says the tradition is important to maintain links with the diaspora in the US and promote the county abroad:
