Damages For Personal Injury Claims Can Be Capped Under Irish Law

The Law Reform Commission has reviewed the rules in this jurisdiction.

Capping damages awarded for personal injury claims would be allowed under Irish law. 

The Law Reform Commission has reviewed the rules around payouts, after rising insurance premiums, which the insurance industry is blaming on excessive personal injury awards. 

The Commission says caps can be introduced without a referendum, but they shouldn't be mandatory, in order to survive constitutional challenges.
