Dara Calleary Confirmed As Robert Troy's Successor

He'll take over the role of Minister of State in the Department of Enterprise.

Dara Calleary has been appointed as Minister of State, replacing Robert Troy. 

The appointment was expected today, as the Cabinet meets for the first time since its summer break.

The Mayo TD will now take over the reins as Minister of State for Trade Promotion, Digital & Company Regulation in the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment.

It follows Longford-Westmeath's Robert Troy's dramatic departure from the role last week following the controversy surrounding in undeclaration of properties and subsequent questions that arose.

Calleary himself resigned as Minister for Agriculture in the midst of the Golfgate controversy of 2020.

With over 15 years in the Dáil, the Ballina man has served as Chief Whip of the Fianna Fáil party, Junior Minister at the Department of the Gaeltacht, the Irish language and Sport, and the Agriculture Minister.

He says he is concentrating on his new role as Minister of State in the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment:
