The walk passes through Westmeath.
Defence Forces Veterans and serving members of the Defence Forces are taking on a 170Km walk starting today until May 18th.
The Famine Trail walk starts at Strokestown, in Roscommon to Custom House Quay, in the Dublin City Docklands.
It passes though Westmeath trailing from Ballynacarrigy to Coolnahay harbour into Mullingar.
They aim to raise funds for other veterans who have become homeless and are in need of assistance, which is provided by the charity ONE.
