The average cost of a home in the midlands is just under €250,000, according to the latest Daft.ie report.
The Housing Minister says the government is watching out for developers unjustly hiking the cost of housing.
It comes after Cairn Homes reported it's costing €35,000 more to build a new home than it did two years ago.
While DAFT figures showed asking prices for homes on average increased by almost €60,000 between June 2020 and September 2022.
The average asking price for a home in the midlands, according to those figures, is just under €250,000.
