A new series of guidelines on caring for end-of life patients with diabetes has been launched in the midlands.
The Community Diabetes Nurse Team have outlined the recommendations in Midlands Regional Hospitals in Tullamore, Portlaoise and Mullingar.
Focused on making life easier for patients approaching end-of-life, the guidelines suggest an easing of controlling sugar levels while still monitoring long term consequences, such as blindness and kidney problems.
