Two TDs, one from Laois-Offaly and another from Kildare South, have both recently left the opposition party.
Sinn Féin's recent difficulties are likely to sting the Government into electoral action.
Laois Offaly TD Brian Stanley recently stepped down from the party after what he is calling a 'character assassination' following a complaint made against him.
Kildare South TD Patricia Ryan and Laois Councillor Aidan Mullins also both resigned from the party, claiming they felt 'undermined' and silenced' respectively.
