A novice driver was caught speeding on the M7 near Portlaoise, and was arrested after failing a roadside breath test for alcohol.
They were later found to be more than four times over the legal limit, and was charged to appear before Portlaoise District Court for intoxicated and dangerous driving.
Meanwhile, in Durrow, five drivers were detected speeding well in excess of the 60km speed limit and fines issued.
Separately, a learner permit holder, who was driving unaccompanied, was stopped using a mobile phone in Portlaoise town.
They were arrested after positive roadside drugs test for cannabis.
