There's been an increase in problem drug use since 2017.
Problem drug use is on the rise in the Midlands.
A new report from the Department of Health, shows there were 243 cases per 100,000 people in Laois, Offaly, Westmeath, and Longford last year.
This compares to 230 cases when compared to 2017.
The report is an evaluation of the State's National Drug Strategy over a seven year period.
Despite reductions in recorded offences, the document says research indicates drug users find it easy to access substances.
While stakeholders in drug treatment services raised concerns over prevention efforts, access to services, and the impact of stigma on families and communities.
