This year's competition has been cancelled due to covid-19.
A €1.4 million fund will still be available to the midlands Tidy Towns groups in 2020.
The Department of Rural and Community Development confirmed that the grants created for this year's competition are still open despite its cancellation.
The money can be used to assist with activities being undertaken throughout the year in preparation for the return of the event in 2021.
