The provision of unscheduled emergency accommodation was responsible for the largest overspend, with that figure exceeding €3.6 million, €1.5 million more than expected.
That includes commercial hotels and B&Bs.
209 people were homeless in the midlands at the end of last year - that figure included 58 children.
