€1b In Tourism Revenue At Risk Due To Beds Contracted To Accommodate Refugees

That's the findings of a new report by Fáilte Ireland.

Up to €1 billion in tourism revenue could be at risk as a result of the number of beds contracted by the State to accommodate refugees.

That's the finding of a new report by Fáilte Ireland, which shows over 76,000 tourism beds were under contract to the Government in June.

One in five registered beds in Offaly are contracted, the fifth highest in the country.

That's followed by 18% in Westmeath and 10% in Laois.

Fáilte Ireland estimates tourism revenue loss could be between €700 million and €1 billion.
